Luisa
Design Franco Albini, 2008
Luisa is a chair with armrests with a sober and minimalist design, the result of a research path that for 15 years sees Franco Albini concentrating on the development of an archetype in which the essential elements of the structure respond to the different and possible uses in the domestic space.
This iconic solid wood chair, after several improvements, is presented in 1955 in the final version with which the master is awarded the prestigious Compasso D'Oro ADI.

Formal elegance
The Luisa armchair was born from a fifteen-year research path, focused on the creation of an archetype that could identify the essential elements of the chair and its possible uses within the home. An ideal model, in which Franco Albini expresses the poetics of "substance in form" by increasing the thickness of the individual wooden elements at the junction points between the parts. After several improvements, the latest definitive version, presented in 1955, earned the author the Compasso d'Oro ADI award. The structure represents a formal synthesis in which the seat and back are made up of two geometric tops suspended on a thin wooden structure with trestle sides. Luisa is a timeless object, made of technique and pure material, reissued by Cassina in a world exclusive thanks to the extraordinary ability in working with wood.
