Carefully hand-woven design
The CH25 armchair, like many of Hans J. Wegner's other iconic designs, is clean and simple in its distinctive form. But its introduction caused a stir due to Wegner's choice of materials on the back and seat. Woven woven paper cord has never been used in furniture before. However, Wegner was enthusiastic about the material's appearance and its optimal, non-elastic durability, and so were the generations after him.
The CH25 armchair has remained extremely popular and has been in continuous production since 1950 - a testament to Wegner's visionary approach. A skilled craftsman takes 10 hours and about 400 meters of rope to complete a seat and a backrest by hand, using a particular technique that recalls the weaving, visible on both sides of the backrest. The surprising result of this challenging process is an exceptional chair that captivates from all angles.
