Doge | Cassina
Design Carlo Scarpa, 1968
A sculptural structure that has become an emblem of Italian design and a manifesto of that new ultra-rational movement which, towards the end of the 1960s, theorized the overcoming of the limits of rationalism by recovering the aesthetic values of tradition.
In the case of the Doge table, Carlo Scarpa intervenes on the shapes and sizes with an innovative approach oriented towards an image of strength and character, made possible by the author's extraordinary ability to combine materials of different scales.

Ultra-rational manifesto
A cornerstone of Italian design, a sculptural structure that has become an emblem of the "Ultrarational" movement which towards the end of the 1960s suggested the overcoming of the limits imposed by rationalism and the recovery of traditional aesthetic values. Part of the Cassina SimonCollection, the Doge table has been updated through the introduction of new treatments and materials that have marked the evolution and updating of the historical model over time. The architectural base in aluminum or brushed steel, defined by thick flat profiles, constitutes the essential part of the table, while the elegant and refined soul of the support mechanism acquires central visibility through the transparency of the glass. The current proposal includes five dimensions inspired by the first project created by Scarpa, available both with float glass top and in variants in white Carrara marble or black Marquiña marble.
